This Week in Louisiana Agriculture
My first assignment from the Louisiana Farm Bureau was to recreate the logo for their television program, This Week in Louisiana Agriculture. The previous logo was created back in 1997 and nothing was really done to revamp the brand since. The previous brand was a two color logo, with a leaf growing in the middle of the text.
"This Week in Louisiana Agriculture" consists of 30 characters, so I decided to create the logo using the acronym, TWILA. My supervisor, i.e. the client, wanted to keep the leaf in the new logo, since it is an agriculture show. I played around with some ideas and I decided to run with the obvious one, which was to have the new leaf grow out of the "i".
I also wanted to choose a brighter color, as the previous green was a dark forest green and brown. After testing out the color on print and television, I chose PMS 355. It's bright, vibrant, and transitions well between print, web and television.
Below are a few examples from my TWILA icon series. These were mainly used in our media kit and business cards. I wanted to create icons that were simple and one color. Restricting myself to one color was a challenge, but I learned a lot about using opacity effectively.
